SEE TIFFY'S EXCELLENT DEFINITION OF A TRUE PREP. PLEASE NOTE THAT A TRUE PREP WOULD NEVER BE CAUGHT DEAD IN ANY THING FROM ABERCROMBIE AND FITCH OR AMERICAN EAGLE. A prep doesn't not attend a public school, they go to well reputed institutions at least 100 years old. A prep usually can be found wearing Polo, Lacoste, or Lily Pulitzer. Preppy's usually get a BMW, Audi, Mercedes, or Land Rover for their 16th birthday or a few months before. Preppy's listen to Dave Matthews and OAR. Most preppy's play field hockey and Lacrosse. Preppy's belong to country clubs where boys are given private golf lessons from age 5. Grow up to be doctors and lawyers. A true preppy respects other groups in high school (ie punks and goths) for their indivduality but hate the abercrombie wannabes.

Preppy

A gorgeous, rich girl who plays golf and tennis and who skis in the winter. They belong to country clubs just for playing golf and belong to other clubs just for playing tennis because the tennis lessons at the country club are not foccused on tennis. She has attended a private school since the age of 3 and has goals in life such as being a Lawyer, Doctor or CEO of a medium to large company. She wears ribbons in her hair from Burberry, Coach, Louis Vuitton etc... and is extremely nice. She is beautifull but might not be popular. She is always clean and always brushes her teeth. In the summer, they have a BMW convertible and in the winter they have a Poarshe or Mercedes-Benz. When people look at them they smile unless they are looking at their new-never-before-seen car because she has always had "old money" and is used to being rich and having the best cars ever. She has her own luxurious bedroom and is again, extremly nice to everybody. She gets great grades and has Britney Spear's body. She is super cute and super nice. She has a ton of REAL friends. She doesn't care about popularity unless, she can't do anything about it. She has a preppy car (BMW, etc...) as well as a preppy "coat and tie) boyfriend.

A prep is hard to be, but anybody can be it with a little of hard work

Preppy

People aften say these things about preps:
They are snobs
They think too much of themselves
All they care about is their looks and shopping
They love pink, A&f and making fun of goth/punks
They are the popular,dumn sluts.

All of these things are not true.
Here are some that are:
They are often very good at school
They are not sluts and do not dress slutty at all; in fact,most of them dress conservative (the ones that don't aren't true preps)
They do not love A&F, they wear clothes by:
Lily Pulitzer, Ralph Lauren, Tommy and so on.
THey often play sports like tennis, golf and field hockey.
They do NOT have to live in the north-east or go to a private/ boarding preppy school
I am a REAL prep (one of few in in my school) and I attend a public school.

But I do play tennis and wear some designer clothes.
I dress like a full-on prep and people at my school do not like that.
It's weird that I'm not even that popular and people still spread nasty rumors about me just because of my personality and style:PREPPY.

Not often are preps as rich as people say they are, but most of them are well-off, as some would say.
My father is a successful shipbuilder and my family is what you would call 'well off', but us preps don't flaunt it.
We're not very public or rowdy and loud.

The preppy thing generally started in the late 70's and it had never went out of style.

Preps are also good people; good grades, good families, they do good things for their communities.

Jules and Alex were headed to Williamsburg to shop after they were done volunteering at Historic Yorktown.
Jules was wearing her favorite green oxford shirt, collar popped and Alex was wearing an almost identical outfit. Jules also had a stripes ribbon belt and a ribbon watch on to accessorize her look.

Okay, just to get the record straight a prep is someone who likes, polo, lilly, lacoste, ect. They do not like a & f, or age, they are wannabe stores, preps like ribbons, in their hair and around their waists. They are not stupid nor slutty instead very classy. The are not mean either, they are nice and respect all groups (Goth, punk, ect.) They come from well off family’s and usually belong to nice country clubs. They like playing tennis, golf, field hockey, ballet ect. And they do not have to come from new England that is just a popular place for them. Most go to expensive private day schools, or boarding schools. Get good grades. And will end up going to a good collage. It does not matter what color their hair is it can be blond, red or brown! They like polo’s, bright colors (pink and green) nice jeans, sevens, or citizens, they enjoy wearing juicy couture and uggs to be comfy. They tend to shy away from malls but will go to nemins and saks and nords, as well as stores the the Polo store ect. They love pearls and lofers!

Preppy people are nice, kind caring and respectful.

Preppyness (yes, a its a word) is not a theme or fad, its a lifestyle, one that has been passed down in well to-do families along the east coast. Primarily these states are Maryland and Massachusetts. In Maryland, the most preppiest cities are; Bethesda, Potomac, and Chevy Chase. The preppies are only considered preppy if they attend the following schools: The Heights School, The Oakcrest School, Holy Child, Visitation, The Landon School, Bullis, Georgetown Prep, and Stone Ridge. Other schools are public and shitty. The guy preppies always wear their collars up, plaid shorts crisply ironed, and their j.crew flip flops. For the girls, their collars are also flipped up, their 8" Abercrombie & Fitch skirts low on the waist (revealing their hip bones)and their designer flip flops. In their hair they usually wear a plaid or striped bow. When traveling, preppies usually drive in the following makes of cars (nothing older than a 1995, seriously now) Mercedes, Land Rover, Jaguar, and of course, Jeep Wrangler. For the weekends, the preppies usually congregate at ones large palatial estate and discuss how great our life and friends are.
