Get the nu metalmug. A great genre. Defined by high pitched yet melodious screams, happy go lucky lifestyle and lyrics, etc. And of course the hair....and spray and lipstick etc.
Few things to get straight however
1. Guns N' Roses are not hair metal....even thought htey are a great band. Just because they have long hair does not make them hair metal. If thats how you define it we start to get bands like the Allman Brothers Band being hair metal.Neither are they heavy metal. Thats much harder and mostly crappy music exept for a few great bands (Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, and best of all: etc.) Theyre straight up hard rock.
2. GRUNGE DID NOT FUCKING KILL HAIR METAL!! Holy fucking shit....no one of any influence likes grunge anyway so how the hell could they kill hair metal????? MT fucking V and the rest of the mainstream media stopped playing them......most generally considered guns n' roses to be hair metal so they got all offended at songs like "one in a million".....WHICH DOESNT HAVE THAT BAD LYRICS OMFG!!!!! oh maybe he says the n-word once...try listening to some of the fucking rap that the mainstream media is playing now eh??? He brings up some good arguments but he does step over the line once or twice or five times....but NOT THAT FAR OVER!!!

Grunge kids call Hair Metal fans arrogant and self - centered and theyre the ones whining about their problems all the time to us...would you rather go through life happy or sad??take the right turn and get yasself some fuckin motley crue, skid row, ratt, whitesnake, scorpions, etc.

Get the death metalmug. A weak genre of music that's not at all technical or challenging to play. It consists of dressing up in boiler suits and masks and playing one fingered downtuned powerchords constantly, as Nu Metal groups are unable to play decent leads or solos.

Get the Nu Metalmug. Genre nickname for hardcore/metalcore/deathcore bands that shady, trashy, strung out teenagers and wannabe dope dealers in the scene listen to. While a lot of them are generally fun to listen to, these bands often have an incredibly ignorant sound (i.e. unnecessarily slow, chugging breakdowns, trashy rap screaming, an overuse of the “BLEAGH” noise), stupid and pointless samples or sound effects (i.e. sounds of people inhaling a bong, threatening or foreboding voicemails, breaking glass), and their lyrics are generally about heavy drug use, binge drinking, addiction/withdrawals, exes/frenemies, ratchet parties, etc.. Examples of “Junkie Metal” bands would be Sworn In, Yuth Forever, Gift Giver, Depreciator, The Plot In You (sort of), Traitors, etc.
Person A: “Hey man do you listen to Gift Giver?”
Person B: “Their music is cool but their lyrics are so trashy. They’re like junkie metal.”

Get the hot metalmug. A target of many stuck-up metal purists who claim the only good music was invented 10-20 years before their time. Seen as illegimate, fake, and popular with mall-core kids. Made it's first debut in early '90s with bands such as Deftones and Korn, then later re-established by newer bands such as System of a Down, Disturbed, Limp Bizkit, etc. Often referred to as "aggro-rock" by offended metal fans who have nothing more to do than insult newer, defining artists in a later and more evolved version of their precious genre.
"Fuckin' kids, go listen to some real metal like Pantera and Meshuggah and such, who will never be able to renew the uniform genre of today's pissy conformists."
