Intentionally poor handwritten type, or child like drawings, spawned from the ironic, high-brow and self important counter culture referred to as 'the hipsters'. Predictably used for t-shirt art, album covers of indy bands, quirky movies and TV-shows

The handwritten type used for the movie "Where the wild things are", "Juno" etc.

The child-like or intentionally poor drawings used for bands like "Radiohead", "Animal Collective" etc.

bougie hipster

(N). A high-end hipster whose lifestyle entails $6 kombuchas, fair-trade hemp lattes, glorified grunge via All Saints and/or Urban Outfitters apparel, and usually implicates them in some sort of start-up, gallery, or filmmaking profession.

All the bougie hipsters have taken over Williamsburg and made it too trendy and expensive. All the real hipsters have moved to Bushwick.

Hipster Fail

When a hipster undergoes the humiliation of not knowing a popular hipster reference. Once the hipster commits a hipster fail, he will not only be teased because of his know-nothingness and lack of hipster know-how, but he will feel a deep internal shame, which he will express by trying to make the other hipsters feel lesser.

A: "You're a bit like Donnie Darko, but only less sociable."
I: "What's Donnie Darko?"
A: "Are you serious? What a hipster fail."
D: "Hey I, there are some stairs over there. Why don't you leave the house."
I: "Hey asshole, at least I knew about MGMT before they were in Nylon."

pomo hipster

One who has a hipster attitude, but is so far gone that s/he believes that even hipsters are too mainstream; a rejection altogether of hipster culture, sometimes in favor of fitting in with the mainstream (not ironically--that is too hipster) in order be indistinguishable from the pack and difficult to classify. Pomo hipsters (also known as posters or pomo-mini-hipsters, in reference to post-modern minimalistic hipsters) can be seen wearing clothing choices that are nondescript; Logo's are no-go's for a pomo hipster. Pomo hipsters are literally the post-contemporary hipster--they are so hipster that they cannot bare to be hipsteresque. Most of the time, a pomo-hipster can only be picked out from a crowd from her/his tastes--posters will throw out most mainstream music and indie music, and will claim an interest in art not for its brooding nature and social impact but "because it is just kind of fun." Mainly, pomo hipsters are pretentious, but ahead of the hipster curve.

Person 1: "Wow, he hates everything mainstream--he is such a hipster!"

Person 2: "No, he wouldn't be caught dead wearing a beanie or listening to Arcade Fire."
Person 1: "Good point. He is definitely a pomo hipster"
