People who think they are better than everyone else.

In terms of social groups centered are music.

Most Metalheads, Classic Rock-heads Indie fans, and Hipsters are elitists.

Metalheads tend to think that taste in music is all that matters in the quality of a person. Also they think Metal is the ultimate music. So they think that people who listen to Metal are superior to those who do not.

Classic Rock-heads are the same way as Metalheads. They are a little more open minded but still elitists.

Indie fans think that unknown music is superior. They are not as strong about their musical taste as metalheads, but they still believe they are better than those who listen to bands everyone knows.

Hipsters tend to think those who don't listen to whats in are strange and different and therefore insuperior to them.

In terms of social groups not centered around music.

Jocks, and Preps are elitists.

Most Jocks believe anyone who sucks at sports and gets good grades are insuperior to them.

Some preps believe anyone who doesn't have a sense of fashion or isn't like them or everyone else is insuperior.

Elitists are socially retarded.

An elitist used to mean someone of high social status who oppresses a minority group.

Today it just means someone who is intelligent, dresses appropriately, can speak clearly, and doesn't watch much television.

Someone who currently is or aspires for greatness (whether that be financial, or being the best in any field). Elitism is a state of mind and not necessarily tied to family lineage or inherited wealth. Someone who the average person loves to hate on because they know deep down they don't have what it takes to achieve the level of excellence demanded by elitists.

Average person: John's such an elitist! He's so damn obsessed with his business that all of a sudden he thinks hes better than the rest of us who like to sit around watching TV on the weekends with our dick in our hands.

Someone who thinks all things should be homemade or made from scratch. They think they are super creative and crafty. Someone who is against using anything from a can in their recipes. Someone who is against using anything from a box. Everything must be organic, whole grain, multiple grain, grass fed, pasture raised, free-range, whole foods. They feel superior to everyone and insult people who don’t do what they do. Because they always do everything perfect. They are so certain of their beliefs being right. Usually someone from New York City, California, Portland.

Oh, I would never eat anything from a can or box. Everything must be whole foods, organic, whole grain, multiple grain, grass fed, pasture raised, free-range. Everything I make is homemade and I always start from scratch. The food and everything else is so much better where I come from." That person is an elitist snob, elitist snob.
