Nazi purge of the Sturmabtielung (storm troopers) branch of Hitler's supporters. During this night in 1934, Heinrich Himmler and the SS (Schutz Staffel) assassinated much of the SA leadership, including Ernst Rohm. Rohm was one of Hitler's early supporters and head of the Brown Shirts.

German 1: Did you hear about old Ernie Rohm?
German 2: Yeah, I heard he got bumped off during the Night of the Long Knives.
