emergency alert system

A scary civil defense broadcasting system. This system used to be called the emergency broadcast system (EBS), which used to be called CONELRAD. The "scary" part is the 3 beeps, which encode the alert, and the 8 second attention signal ( from EBS). Then, in either a robot or human voice, info is given. During the weekly tests, there is no voice. There is during monthly tests, though. The "robot voice" is on alerts from the National Weather Service, but on rare occasions, a human voice will be on weather alerts.

Coming up next on Cartoon Network- *Screen goes black for 5 seconds*
*3 beeps that sound like "duck farts"*
*Attention signal*
Announcer: This is a monthly test of the emergency alert system. If this were an actual emergency, the alert tone you just heard would be followed by instructions and information. This concludes this test of the emergency alert system.

Emergency Nug

A weed nugget that you keep after buying and never bring out with you so that in the future if you dont have weed and cant find any you can go to your emergency nug and smoke that.

emergency cleanup

Cleaning up one's messy house (or a similar setting) in a hurry by hastily stuffing junk and other items into closets, drawers, and other places visitor(s) would not enter or see so when visitor(s) arrive, the areas of the house visitor(s) will see (typically the living room and other nearby places) will appear presentable, but the messiness of the house (and the owner's slobbiness) remain hidden.

My boss is coming over, so I have to do an emergency cleanup.

emergency bacon

This is bacon which is hidden from normal usage such that, in the event of a bad day, a party, or a zombie apocalypse, it is readily available to save the day and improve morale. Usually this is kept in a separate freezer apart from the one in your kitchen. It can also be hidden in the main freezer using grocery bags, or by hiding down at the bottom where it is hard to reach. The end goal is that the bacon is hidden and forgotten from normal usage but, when you really need it, you remember it is there and can still have bacon.
This also can lead to having to double up on grocery purchases of bacon to replenish your normal supply, plus the emergency bacon ration.

"Oh man, I've had a rough day at work, and just need some bacon to cheer me up."
"But we're out, we used up our bacon on Saturday with a big breakfast, and I haven't had time to grocery shop".
"Wait! We still have the emergency bacon, let's open that up!"
