Although slugs are the main inhibitors of Slugterra, there also exist humans, cave trolls, molenoids and more creatures. The two known sets of caverns in Slugterra are the 99 Caverns and the Eastern Caverns, and in each set of caverns, the protector of those caverns wields a rare species of slugs: the Infernus. Together Eli Shane and his gang protect the 99 Caverns and beyond from evils.
