pulling an emily

From the TV series Criminal Minds, “pulling an emily” means faking your death and coming back after an amount of time. This is because in season 7, Emily Prentiss faked her death because of the danger she was in because of Ian Doyle. She came back after the danger had passed. While the TV show had her fake her death because of danger, the context this is used in is usually just a way to get out of relationships or embarrassing situations.
