Structure over Substance

A rhetorical strategy where the form of an argument is prioritized over its actual content—critiquing structure, style, or presentation while ignoring the substantive claims being made. Often appears in academic or intellectual debates: "Your argument lacks rigor," "This isn't properly formatted," "You haven't engaged with the literature." The critique may be valid, but it becomes fallacious when it substitutes for engaging the actual ideas. Structure matters, but substance matters more.

"They spent an hour critiquing my sources and formatting and never addressed my central thesis. That's Structure over Substance—judging the package while ignoring what's inside. Form matters, but when form becomes the only focus, substance gets buried alive."

A person who feels trapped in their own life. Lacking direction, momentum, or clarity about their next move. Often aware they’re stuck, but unable to break the cycle.

Ever since he quit his job and moved back home, he’s been a total stuckler. Talking about big plans but not taking a single step.

Stucker

1. A person who speaks their mind without always thinking it through first. Often misunderstood at first, but their raw honesty sometimes lands them somewhere between brilliant and chaotic.

2. Someone who lives on the fine line between crazy and genius, usually because they say what everyone else is thinking but won’t say out loud.

Example:
“Don’t mind the stucker, they may be offensive unknowingly but they may actually be right.”
