n. a complicated and intricate fail typically involving more than one person. It is the result of some set-up or work towards a goal which fails in the end.

Jeez. Those a-wads tried to set her up, and boy did they put a lot of effort into it - but it just ended up looking ridiculous to everybody. Deluxe fail.

When a cheap person regifts something and the reciever unwraps it to discover it is blatantly secondhand.

My friend regifted my DD an Easter egg sticky-taped to a dirty coffee mug, which had coffee residue and spoon marks in the base of the mug. Regift fail.

safety fail

To "safety fail" is to intentionally fail or fail to complete a major assignment or test in a given class because (according to calculations) it is impossible for the assignment to cause one's overall grade in the class to drop by a letter or have any significant changes

Sarah: Hey what are did you write about on the essay for the final in English?

Chris: Haha I didn't...I took a nap. I had over a 100% in that class so it wouldn't have changed my grade. I might as well have safety failed it.

Transitive Fail

In many ways like a chain fail, but which tends to propagate down a line like a domino effect. That is, if when A fails then B fails, and when B fails then C fails, then if A fails, C fails.

Because Adam didn't fill the car up with gas, his girlfriend, Becka couldn't get to work on time. Because Becka couldn't get to work, she could not add the sales figures to Craig's presentation. Because Craig did not have the sales figures, the client fired Craig. Craig, in turn, reported Becka's habitual tardiness to management, which got her fired. Because she was fired due to Adam's lack of forethought, she subsequently dumped him.

Since when Adam failed, Becka failed; and when Becka failed, Craig failed, Adam created a transitive fail.

garage fail

A garage fail, is a play on the words "garage sale," and is used as a declaration that a particular garage sale is so bad, often with very few items, that it is not worth stopping at.

"Do you want to stop at this garage sale?"
"NO! All they have is a couple of boxes of clothes... more like a garage fail."
