metal

Hilairously over the top music genre that thinks playing very fast will somehow make quality music. Fans are often very defensive when it comes to this, and will often tell critics to listen to "some REAL metal." This "REAL metal" is in fact some obscure band that has a name like BONES OF DEATH or ETERNAL DYING and sounds like everything else out there.

How to make a metal song:
1) Fast guitars that are heavy on the distortion (unless it's "the slow song")
2) Pounding drums with unncessairly complicated fills
3) Stupid screaming/growling vocals that don't make any sense
4) A stupid title that usually relates to something graphic or violent. Only serves to highlight the fact that the bans is made up of long haired 40-somethings who are acting like they are 12 years old.
Person A: Wow, this whole metal thing sure is a crappy music genre!

Person B: You ignorant cretin, here is some REAL METAL!

Person A:...no, it's still crappy. And for gods sake, have a shower and cut your hair.

metal

Quite possibly the biggest load of crap I've ever had the displeasure of having to listen to.

The sheer ear-splitting lameness of metal music could only be derrogated further by it's continued existance.
Metal:
*puts playlist on shuffle*
*5 songs later*...

"What the shitting hell is this...!?!"

*checks playlist*..
"Pantera.. What the FUCK.. GTFO my playlist you SHIT"
*bandages ears*

Metal music are things such as blood on the dance floor, my chemical romance, pierce the veil, sleeping with sirens, falling in reverse, and black veil brides

metal

A shitty form of popular music on which virtually all subgenres rely on the 'as long as it sounds catchy' philosphy. Truly, atrocious popular youthmusic from which the listeners actually think its underground. A few subgenres that do not apply to that rule are technical metal, math metal and black metal

Metal relies on simple musical theory. Simple rithms, and certainly does not ask much virtuosis from the perform artist as well as compositional ability from the composer.

Some genres that would rise above this atrocity that is metal would be:

dark noise
tech trance
europian classical music
psybient
Metaller: I listen to metal, I'm so underground.

Me: Inferiour troglodyte. What does it matter if you are underground? and let me tell you that you are not. Everyone knows your Children of Bodom and your Dry Kill Logic.

Any band who uses an electric guitar as the main melodic instrument must be considered metal, thus making Jimi Hendrix the godfather of the genre. Clearly metal originates from rock and blues Judas Priest, Overkill but traces from atonal jazz Morbid Angel and punk Metallica are also to be found. Acoording to this definition nu-metal and rap metal and all that new shit qualifies as metal...yes but not a very listen-worthy kind.
These bands are clearly for kids but hey..I love kids and I started off with listening to Nirvana and the black album myself, so who can blame them ?
To those people who so clearly dislikes this lovely genre i can only say: go kill yourself with an xtacy overdose...please!

Apparently, i don't know what metal is, according to all of you. I listen to heavy metal, and I consider bands such as Slipknot, Atreyu, In flames, Shadows Fall metal, but some of you seem to think that they are "posers" I classify metal in two catagories: Heavy Metal and old school metal. heavy would be the above mention bands and old school would be Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Van Halen, stuff from the 70's. yeah, back in thier heyday they were the most metal shit you could find. But the definition of metal has changed over the years, and if you compare Zeppelin to Slayer, there's quite a difference, and for good reason. heavy metal is rocking out, and just having a good time and being you. Old school metal was about acid trips and pink bunnies in the air, while screwing a groupie or two. Times have changed and definitions are rewritten over time, and you gotta understand that.
Metal: Slipknot, System of a Down(kinda), Atreyu, Slayer, Meshuggah, Hatebreed
old school Metal: Pink floyd, Van Halen, Led Zepplin, Queen
