despite being from Solihull, (Sillhillian?) i consider myself to be a brummie, the place probably wont mean much to someone who's not from there but it's a nice city however you look at it, it has great nightlife, all the shops you could want, places to hang around and some of the best live venues in the country. and it has a lot more culture and history than you might expect, we just don't feel the need to put statues everywhere like they do in London
I've been to Cairo, Dublin, The Carribean, Greece, London and many other places yet i miss Birmingham when i'm not there and i have an attachment to the place, just avoid Sparkhill, its a shit hole

Get the Birmingham mug.By far one of the hardest cities in the country and most definately in the south east. gang violence is prevalent in west side neighborhoods such as ensley, greensprings, and west end, where homocides go undetected and uncared about. birmingham police don't pull you over if your suspicious, because they're being paid off by drug dealer to not get busted or bust their customers, cops are crooked and no one cares about anything but money and dope. southern suburban areas like mountain brook, vestavia hills and hoover are some of the wealthiest areas in the south. therefore depicting the 'hosing blacks in the streets' persona of birmingham from the 60s during the civil rights movement is still quite true to an extent. however the tables have turned. the blacks now sell drugs to the rich white kids, and since 2005 there has been a dramatic increase in young white teenage and college aged kids getting into hard drugs (opiates in particular). many would be suprised to know that birmingham is home to some of the purest cheapest heroin and cocaine in the country. What can I say, I'm from there, the girls are slutty and hot, the guys are pricks. and everyones on smack, yet still preach about loving god because the southern baptist coalition inlfluences everything.
I remeber Birmingham, Alabama I overdosed there. Let's go clubbing in Bimingham, Alabama this weekend. I passed out in an alley on 21st street in Birmingham, Alabama and woke up 2 days later with a rig in my pocket not knowing how it got there. I'm from Birmingham, Alabama and its hard as fuck!

Get the birmingham, alabama mug.My home town. Like every other UK city ive been to. its innerds are depressing and dead, filled with the rotting skeletons of its industrial past. The town centre has almost no character, if you dont count the gangs and homeless. Its suburbs have some nice parts, but mostly not so nice parts. And you only have to walk 10 minutes before you hit another councel estate, with burnt out cars, scallys and shopping trolleys. It may be extremely multi cultured, but if you ask me, theres alot of ratial tension in the air.I dont consider myself racsist, but when you've been mugged 3 times, each time by a different gang of black youths, you have to ask yourself wether its a co-incidence you're white.
