Aidcation

A volunteering trip supposedly about helping others, but really just an excuse to relax and see foreign places. Aidcationers will seek to maximize their enjoyment and minimize their sacrifice.

"Hey, how was your service trip to Guatemala?"
"It was amazing! We got to explore the rainforest, we visited old Mayan ruins, and we even got to swim with dolphins! Oh, yeah, we also tutored some kids for a couple hours at an orphanage. Serving others is so rewarding!"
"...sounds like quite the aidcation."

avocadian

Avocadian refers to people who are largely ignorant about language in general but still like to “inform” people about language. Some are rather belligerent in their ignorance and won’t accept any criticism or correction. It also describes any so-called “language troll” who is either trying to mislead, misdirect or misinform genuine language enthusiasts. This word is a pejorative for anyone who wishes to knowingly mislead people as to the true origins of words, terms and languages.

Avocadian: "Copenhagen literally means 'buy a harbour!"
Better informed person: "Omg, you're such an avocadian... Copenhagen originally comes from Old Danish 'Køpmannæhafn', which means 'merchant's harbour'"
