From the mispronunciation of julius in Orange Julius. To call someone a hoolius is like calling someone stupid, or making fun of them. Though it sounds mean, it is really a term of endearment.

Person 1: "Man, did you see Seth today? He was like, crawling on the floor and sh*t"
Person 2: "Yeah man, he's such hoolius. But we still love him."

Due to self-deception, illusion, or delusion, the tendency to be exceedingly self-serving but under the pretense that one is working to make the world a better place, common in start-up culture. Named after the fictitious company called "Hooli" in the HBO series, "Silicon Valley." In the words of Hooli CEO, Gavin Belson, "I don't want to live in a world where someone else makes the world a better place better than we do."

This guy radiates hoolism more than a star radiates heat.
