Slang for someone who uses a dark (mentally ill / violent / traumatized etc) persona. Mostly used to seem tough and cool and/or to evoke pity and sympathy.

This term is usually used negatively in reference to someone who is trying to hard to be this persona.

The tween's original character was beyond the point of edgy. The attempt at a cool character was rather pathetic in all honesty.
