How a poser spells "poser".
As the online etymology dictionary states, "The word is English poser in French garb, and thus could itself be considered an affectation."
The French word "poseur" is absolutely not used in that context, which further points out that this spelling is not the correct, original one.
-"Poseur."
-"Poser."

Someone more desperate than anybody to prove to others that they are a wonderful, colorful person.
The poseur worked hard at being loose all her life, so that people would like/love her. She always said she didn't care what anybody thought, or preached to everyone about how they should all be themselves and stop trying to prove they were good people, but really she was more desperate than anybody to convince others she didn't care what anybody thought. There were those of them that could see through the rungs in her ladder, as she could see through the rungs in theirs.

Someone that has a different name, look/image, and language than the one they spoke as a kid (a language more like an imitation of someone else's) to get liked/accepted by others more than they were as a kid.
He/she must have wanted to be a poseur when he/she grew up, because he/she is speaking in someone else's tongue instead of his/her own, but then again he/she always imitated other people growing up too, without really ever being someone that other people thought about imitating as a kid.

Someone that wants to look and sound the part without really being it.
The girl got a beanie with a crocheted visor to prove she didn't wear a beret and wasn't a snob, not because she actually delivered newspapers, magazines, phone books, or any other periodicals for work as a young boy/girl, a teenager, or even a 20 something, because she was a desperate poseur. She had actually always had more money than the people she was trying to make fun of, but wanted to look tougher because she thought she really was tougher.

Someone that sees glory and dollar signs in someone else's life and wants it for themself.
Your father was never a hard ass with you, he was always protective and civil with you because you were soft and nerdy as a kid, quit being a poseur to try and gain fame/riches/respect/power from it.
