A poser is a generally slanderous insult with no truthful backing. It is often used among teenagers depending on what someone wears.
However, the literal definition is someone who attempts to 'pose' or not be their actual self, to fit in among others.

Any one who does not follow his/her own ideas of what he/she likes. Following no one set norm makes you real and following no one set norm makes you poser. Poser is governed not by the clothes, music, or makeup you wear, but rather by the state of your mind and the conformity to your own beliefs.

Poser; One who conforms to other people's ideas, has no original ideas, and tries to be someone they're not. They typically ditch their original group of friends to try and hang out with people that are "cool" in hopes of becoming popular. A poser is someone who tries hard to be something they arent. Usually, posers call other people posers because they are jealous that the person they called a poser is more skater/stoner/goth/punk/rocker/grunge/etc. than they will ever be.

Posers usually attempt to listen to whatever-subculture-they-try-to-be's type of music. But usually end up listening to sell outs or poser BANDS. They also buy things people will think are {LABEL}, so people will say, "OMG UR SO {LABEL}!" to them, mainly for attention. They also try to do EVERY EXACT THING one specific label does. ex. Emo - Cut/ Prep - Wear a lot of pink, hate other cliques

Long story short is that posers are sorry excuses for everything. And many just want to look different. Labels are gay things that take people's originality away. There's no use for them, AND PEOPLE HAVE TO LEARN TO BE THEMSELVES.

A person who calls someone a "poser" when the word that they really mean to use, but are to much of a poseur to realize, is "poseur".
So, I came across these guys online today that where totally thinking they were all punk. I was like, "Have you even heard of the Ramones? Because I'm pretty familiar with their music!" They didn't know what I was talking about!!!! :-o Wow, these guys where SUCH a bunch of posers!
