Something that is less than ideal, and often not merely temporary.

Ghost Liking

When a user on Facebook "likes" another users comment left on a status without donating their two cents in the actual conversation at hand.

Reasons for this maybe because:

(1) have nothing to contribute to the status.
(2) don't want to receive useless notifications by liking/commenting the actual status or
(3) it was that damn good of a comment and worthy of receiving props.

The act of "liking" something on sites such as facebook to impress one's friends or colleuges.

guy 1: what's this? my ex is now a fan of horror movies??
guy 2: nah brah, she was just buddy liking it for her new bf.
guy1: buddy liking? but you're the only other person listed as a fan that i know of.......

parallel liking 

On Facebook, when one person's comment is liked by another person, whose responding comment is then liked by the original commenter.

Can be used for many reasons, the most common being:
1. Self-absorption
2. Eagerness to appear as though one has a private joke with someone else
3. Desire to publicly proclaim the good standing of a relationship to the world (whether true or false).

Vanessa: Wow, I can't believe Brit-brit and Jen-jen are so self-absorbed that they keep parallel liking everything!

Angie: Yeah, especially since they had that big fight yesterday...everyone knows they don't really get along anymore.
