feature creep

In contracting (particularly Software Development), the natural tendency of the customer to continually request small additions which were not part of the original specifications, gradually reaching critical mass.
Dilbert: "Your requirements call for 4000 features! You realize that no Human would be able to operate a product with this level of complexity?"

Customer: "Good point. I'd better add 'easy to use' to the list."

feature abuse

using a feature of something (device, website, etc.) for a purpose it wasn't meant for, to the point where it irritates other people.

Water feature

When you take a dump in a public toilet and jump to the next cubical leaving your crap in the first toilet.
You can then finish off as normal in the 2nd cubical.
Meanwhile you can listen to the gasps from the public who walk into the 1st cubical who admire the water feature you created for them.

Do not use tissue or else it will ruin the water feature!
What's one heck of a water feature someone left in there!

feature creep

A dangerous disease of writing software: the original set of features is constantly added to by the product managers, driving the software engineers batty and causing massive delays in release of the product.
