Check-in Fatigue

It's the malady that sets in when the user realizes "services" like Foursquare are a complete and utter waste of time.
Hey, I just became Mayor of my workplace! When do I get my pay rise?

Heh - that's only because Mary stopped checking-in on Foursquare. She has total check-in fatigue.

Check-in

To "Check-in" is in a sense, the opposite of "checking someone out."
"Dude, I was with my girlfriend yesterday and this Nice Ass Chick was walking by, I really wanted to look at her, but I had to "Check-In," to my lady. Shit.

Check-in/Check-off

Check-in/Check-off
References used among inmates incarcerated within institutions of the Canadian Prairie region and possibly other institutions nationally or internationally.

Check-in: An inmate who is unstable and acts in such a way that Corrections Officers are left with no option but to upgrade the inmate's security level and have him or her removed from a low security setting.

Check-off: An inmate who is forced to move units by other inmates. This scenario is often initiated by gang members in an attempt to create available bed-space with the hope that free beds will be given to "bro's" or, in the case of a woman's institution, "bitches."
Check-in/Check-off

Check-in: "Fuck, bro, look at this crazy check-in. What a bitch. The goof (see definition) didn't last a minute before freaking."

Check-off: "You'd better check-off, bitch. The bro's need a bed and if you don't check-off you're gonna get done-up (likely stabbed with an improvised weapon , or shank (see definition), or severely beaten. )

Check-in-the-Box

A "check-in-the-box" and is an action or mandate that a group or authority takes when it doesn't want to be liable for something, so they put on an act that everyone secretly knows is functionally meaningless but has enough good intention so that criticism is often viciously attacked. In the end, if a worst-case scenario presents itself, the group or authority in question can claim they took all the possible precautions they had at their disposal and are not liable for damages while exclaiming how sorry they are things didn't happen as they would have liked. This usually leads to calls for more feel-good protocols and additional checks-in-the-box actions, and if the group or authorities' performance is good enough can even lead to the group or authority being lauded for their benevolence, all the while the people forgetting it was the original check-in-the-box that might have caused the crisis.
Person A: Do you think installing a sign warning people that there is no lifeguard on duty will help prevent drowning?
Person B: (Being honest) Of course not, but it's a check-in-the-box, so we won't be responsible if anything else does happen.
Person A: You're so cynical.
