Goldsteinic Device 

noun:

1. A term coined from George Orwell's critically acclaimed dystopian novel "1984" that refers to a nonexistent idea used as a scare tactic by a person or an organization. Such a device is used as a public diversion from a situation at hand as the "antagonist,"Emmanuel Goldstein, was in Orwell's book.

Many would call the terrorist group "Al Qaeda" a Goldsteinic device that the US government uses to help justify their war efforts.

The definition which covers all senior year high school Humanities courses in the State of New Jersey. This Era, also known as the Goldsteinian Era, covers various forms of art, music, and film from the early 1900s to the present.
"Hey bro, that trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art was very Goldsteinian. Can't believe we listened to some Ray Charles on the way in to the city too. The guy is a legend."
