Usually used in the arts when analyzing the reaction of the audience to a performance or piece of writing. Sometimes mistakenly used as a positive when the result in neither fresh nor interesting.

Not expecting disadvantaged people or minorities to meet the same standard of behaviour or achievement set for most people. It is called "soft bigotry" because it is a more subtle and subconscious form of prejudice.

The inflated degree of hoped-for euphoria that one initially possesses when trying out a new psychedelic drug, spiritual/meditation regimen, etc.

It's not a good idea to have high expectations, especially if you have trouble handling disappointment. Everyone's metabolism and chemical makeup is different, so individual results and effects will vary widely (and WILDly).
