Hazardaround

An improperly designed roundabout which takes away driving surface from an intersection and makes driving, bicycling and walking more complicated, difficult, dangerous and slower.
There is another fender bender clogging the the hazardaround. The sociologineer traffic planner approved the expensive hazardaround project despite public protest and the board rejecting it.

sociologineer

A non-engineer who is installed as a traffic planner or other utopian public works government position, who is not qualified to make sound technical nor financial decisions, and/or makes decisions by political agenda instead of facts.
The mayor hired a sociologineer as head of the traffic department- she has only a "Social Ecology" degree and tells the engineers what to design. The sociologineer designed the housing project, and now it's abandoned.

A public works project promoted as progressive, but actually designed to intentionally discourage auto travel, resulting in significantly reduced safety for bicyclists and pedestrians due to increased traffic congestion, and degraded local living conditions.
From Blum + Blunder.
Named after Marty Blum, Mayor of Santa Barbara, who allowed unqualified planners to construct failed projects without approval of the Architectural Board.
The hazardaround pushed through by the sociologineer was another Blumder, causing more congestion and accidents. I'm going another way; I don't want to ride my bike through that chaotic Blumder.

Blum Bump

A traffic hazard officially named "curb bulbout". Named after the Mayor of Santa Barbara, Marty Blum, who allowed these hazards to be constructed in street intersections.
Synonyms: "peaks of destruction", "claws of death", "street pinchers", "artery cloggers", "cyclist hazards".
That car hit the Blum Bump when he turned. That Blum Bump needs to be repainted red because of the tire marks.
