wake up! time to die

Expression frequently used when working with a slow working computer. From Leon's line in Blade Runner.
Come on, you useless hunk of plastic and silicon, load the sucker! Hurry up and wake up! time to die!

Outside it's America

Reference to the ubiquity of things American in the world of the late twentieth/early twenty-first century CE: in the pre-Chinese era. From the U2 song Bullet the Blue Sky, about US military domination of Central America.
We take the staircase to the first floor
We turn the key and slowly unlock the door
A man breathes into a saxophone
And through the walls we hear the city groan
Outside it's America

Expression used of someone who has met a sad end in fact or fiction. After a line from Hannibal Lecter in Thomas Harris's "The Silence of the Lambs", on the subject of Benjamin Raspail. Lecter had Raspail over for dinner and later commented, "Best thing for him, really. His therapy was going nowhere."
He jumped off a cliff and blew himself up with a bellyful of dynamite halfway down. Best thing for him, really. His therapy was going nowhere.

Pierce Brosnan

Attractive but bland Irish actor. From Navan, County Meath. Played James Bond in four movies. Looked perfect in the posters, don't know about the movies; he was a kind of generic Bond without much bite. The first one was a good enough revamp in its way. The second was made by its villain (who, uniquely among Bond baddies, was genuinely scary) into possibly the cream of the franchise. As for the latter two ... what happened?
The name's Brosnan. Pierce Brosnan. Now, where did I leave my personality?

West Brit

Derogatory term used in Ireland to describe anyone who believes British (i.e. English) culture, goods or whatever to be invariably superior to their Irish counterparts. Not necessarily living in Dublin, although the capital boasts at least its fair share of them.
Nicola is a right West Brit. She has been living in County Cork for the last nine years and she still gets her milk and bread direct from Surrey.
