Singapoor

A developing country or city that aspires to become like Singapore but fails in urban planning and implementation, resulting in poor conditions to its residents.

The mayor of the city wants it to become like Singapore in the future. But the city's current neglect and lack of development makes its residents call it 'Singapoor'.

Filipino English term for 'running the gauntlet'. The term originated from depictions of Native Americans performing the ritual in movies.

Skylab 

A nickname for a modified motorcycle that is added with a bench or - any long plank - at the backseat, placed crossways for the purpose of acquiring extra seats for more passengers. These extra seats resemble the 'wings' or the solar panels at the side of the eponymous space station.

Dangerous skylab motorcycles dominate the transportation mode in many hinterlands in the Philippines.

Iglot 

A derogatory term for a member of Iglesia ni Cristo - a Philippine cult founded by Felix Manalo in 1914.

An iglot is prohibited from eating blood stew, and they always have money in an envelope - to enrich the minister's bank account - during church services.

Gwapa means a beautiful female in Cebuano Filipino, and also in Tagalog. From the Spanish word 'guapa'.
