withdrawing the whip 

Another tool used by the UK government to undermine democrasy in Britain.

Any MP who defies a Three Line Whip is suspended from his party for an indefinded period (anything from one day to life). This can end the career of an MP and thus discourages members from voting with for wishes of their constituents

Three Line Whip 

A tool used in the British Parliamentry system to undermine democracy.

The term refers to to party 'enforcers' or whips underlining an item on parliamentry order papers three times as an order for all MP's to tow the party line on that vote even if the party line goes against their own beliefs and the wishes of their electorate.
