Provider Panic
noun | pro-vi-der pan-ic
A sudden, irrational entrepreneurial crisis experienced by an expectant first-time father who, upon discovering he's about to become financially responsible for another human being, decides the only sensible course of action is to quit his perfectly good job and start a business.
Driven by an overwhelming urge to provide his family with financial security, he embarks on an ambitious quest to make millions, achieve financial freedom and become the next Mark Zuckerburg.
Unfortunately, the new business immediately consumes every waking hour, all available savings and most of his emotional bandwidth, leaving his pregnant partner — and eventually the mother of his child — to manage the actual family he's supposedly doing it all for.
Common symptoms include unsolicited business ideas, excessive podcast consumption, sudden interest in passive income and repeatedly telling his exhausted partner, "I'm doing this for us."
The defining irony: In his desperate attempt to become the ultimate provider, he becomes almost entirely unavailable to the people he's trying to provide for.
See also: Entrepreneurial delusion, absent-present father, hustle culture, emotional labour, weaponised ambition.

Doneosphere
noun | done-o-sphere
The growing collective of predominantly perimenopausal and menopausal women who have spent decades putting up with men's bullshit, carrying the mental load, managing fragile egos, raising children, organising households and providing unpaid emotional labour — only to reach midlife and collectively decide: “I'm done.”
Unlike the manosphere, the Doneosphere isn't about hating the opposite sex. It's about no longer being willing to sacrifice your peace, independence or sanity to accommodate them.
Its members aren't necessarily bitter, lonely or looking for another man. They're often perfectly happy with their friends, careers, children, dogs, wine and the glorious prospect of nobody asking them what's for dinner.
Core philosophy: Men aren't necessarily the enemy. They're just no longer worth the admin.

"Since hitting perimenopause, Stella has officially entered the Doneosphere. She's not looking for a new husband. She's looking forward to never having to explain where the dishwasher tablets are again."
