A city doesn't have to be competitive any more than a person has to be competitive.

How can anybody like a city, person, or company that is uber competitive?

Illusion

You might have thought Jack Palance and Matt Damon were really Irish (or South African for Matt Damon), or Colin Farrell was really Italian, or Jeffrey Wright was really a Dominican that was racist against black people, or that Lorraine Bracco was Jewish and Ray Liotta was Italian (who knows who the guy really is but him) until you looked it up on Wikipedia (or behind you). Then they start to seem a little bit more like posers trying to talk weird than people that teenagers look up to or try to become.

The usher didn't want some schoolboy showing up late to the show, the quiet heped maintain the illusion.

People who think kindness is pacifism or weakness have watched one too many Jim Carrey movies.

In a Jim Carrey movie kindness might seem like weakness or the world might seem like a bubble because it's a movie.

Unique

A word that people who are too much of a pussy to call an awesome an awesome to use to describe an awesome (even though asshole is simpler language).

The guy had known he was an asshole for a lifetime already, but the girl wanted to try and either go over his head or around the bush about what she really wanted to say to him, that way he could always stay either the rude one or the polite one,and she could keep a little control over someone else, since it made her feel like she had control of herself (which felt powerful rather than weak), so she called him unique.
