He thought he was a strong, healthy guy until he got his head dunked into the bucket of liquid nitrogen, leaving his mind shattered across the floor. As a human popsicle, he didn't stay in one piece for too long, a few seconds.

If theres a good thing that came out of Cam Newton's departure from Carolina, it is that Carolina wasnt quick to trade Cam for a white quarterback. It's a good thing for where the league is headed that quarterback and leadership opportunities have opened up, that the captain doesnt have to look, think, or act a certain way. There is such a thing as people who didn't and still don't respect Peyton Manning, so whether or not people respect you doesnt determine who you are or what you do in life, even if it has an effect on you. It's good the league hasn't given up on something because it's still new and unfamiliar. Just like you make new friends though, you keep the old, you dont abandon the old or trade the old for the new, and things would go the same way with what the league is doing now.
There havent been a lot of guys doing what Cam Newton is doing now, theres also teammates, opponents, fans, coaches, and the media he's had to try and get recognition and respect for what he's doing, and has the potential to do. It's not an easy road even if you make a lot of money, but it does still come with choices. Theres a world filled with criticism, it's going to be there anyway.

Jefe has been playing up to Alan's skyscraper ego, but Alan hasn't noticed since his head is in the clouds.

It's not a realistic expectation to expect a first year team to go out and win every game. Underconfidence is when if you think you'll win about 3 games, you end up winning about 3 games, even though you had the ability to do what you didn't think you would do. The point is not to win games, it's not to start a habit of defeating yourself early when really you have the ability to go further with a little more confidence at the times you would usually lose confidence. If you're playing to win, you're going to fear failure and feel like you have to win, but if you're just going out and working on the things you're rusty at, trying to do what you didn't do last week or yesterday, not giving up on yourself, and the work you're doing is always in progress and never finished, you have room to improve anything you want to improve.
Underconfidence can get you stuck somewhere you wouldn't be stuck at a time when your confidence level wasn't as low. Allowing yourself a little room not to fail but not being afraid to fail can sometimes make a difference in how something you do turns out. You won't expect to always fail every time that way, even if you don't expect to do a good job at something.

Theres a few things about the Truman show that fuck with your head. Jim Carrey is a somewhat tall actor, and you think of a Truman character as being a short guy with Napoleon's syndrome. Marlon seems more like a guy that would bring a 40 by and want to listen to reggae music after work than a white guy with blond hair who shows up with a 6 pack, if he's not an Italian guy that wants to talk business with you. It's not a bad movie, there are just a few inconsistencies about it.

Not acknowledging negative feelings is true repression. Not allowing other people to acknowledge theirs because you don't acknowledge yours is the worst kind of repression/oppression.
For someone that claimed to be such a free spirit, repression was something she used at many oppurtune times to benefit from doing so.
