Whether either group likes it or not, both Confederate statues and statues of civil rights leaders are part of the country's heritage. There is no replacing one with the other, and history is never erased, even if there's no evidence of it.
The country's heritage is fucked up, it's not a healthy, clean heritage that's best for everybody. Really it's always been bad for people, it's always been toxic.

Something you dont trade for something new, whether it be events, businesses, or money being spent. A friend who expects you to trade your old friends to gain their friendship is not a friend, heritage is no different. You dont trade in the old for the new.
What would you want to become like everyone or everywhere else for? Theres already enough people who do that, keep your heritage, even if it doesn't make you look good, and people really hate it, you dont get another heritage once its erased.

Doesn't really have to describe anything internal or external based on my experience. A way for somebody to describe themself as rougher/tougher than they actually are.
He never saw the roughness that the girl calling herself the diamond in the rough was describing in her title for herself.

Nobody really thought there was any roughness to the girl that called herself a diamond in the rough but herself, everybody else just thought she was a bully who was silly more often than not.
