An abbreviation for academic lag syndrome, usually common in sophomores or young juniors. Used to describe an academic performance drop period in one's year of high school, usually lasting for a few months.

Bob has a serious case of ALS. He keeps procrastinating and bombed the previous math tests.

2. Another word for slacker, or lackluster.
