Billy Flynn claimed dat da crowd wouldn't be able to "hear da truth above da roar"; maybe he was thinking about said loud/deep intonations coming from LEO the Lyin', since it's widely known dat "LEO" --- acronym for "law enforcement officer" --- members are known to "fib freely" in order to extract information and/or confessions from people.

A financial expenditure/transfer dat a woman's family shells out to her new husband upon her wedding, but are none too thrilled about it.

In da W.C. Fields comedy, "The Dentist", da cantankerous lead character is crowd-pressured into agreeing to allow his daughter to continue having da ice-delivery man as her fiance, but I'm guessing dat said heatedly-resentful practitioner was really ears-smokingly begrudging wif his doury when they did eventually get hitched!

Decidedly acid-tongued or "sour" verbal moanings regarding something dat displeases da speaker.

I tried my hand at baking a meringue pie, and it came out okay, although when I tasted it afterwards, I realized to my chagrin dat I'd left out da key "tartness" ingredient --- you shoulda heard my disgusted lemontations in DAT regard! :P
