Haitian Music Industry Association, (HMIA) pronounced " Hm̩ /mY ā-uh" (H - huh, silent) – commonly referred (Association haïtienne de l'industrie musicale or Asosyasyon Endistri Mizik Ayisyen in Haitian-Créole - is an organization composed of Haitian musicians, vocalists. composers, producers and performers, headquartered in New York City.

Founded by René Guemps in 2022, with a primary focus on the performance and promotion of Haitian music in the US.
We excited to be the first Haitian Folkloric band to join the Haitian Music Industry Association, HMIA.

RaggAppeal

The name is a portmanteau of Ragga and Appeal.

RaggAppeal is the Haitian style of the EMO-Ragga music a subgenre of Reggae.

Characterized by an emphasis which tend to focus on topics such as poverty; hunger; diseases; homelessness; Suffering; violence, war and natural disasters which are sung in Crenglish and Franglish by artists of Haitian origins through reminiscent lyric over live rhythms and digitized backing instrumentation.

Haitian-Trance

Haitian-Trance (Simply referd to as Vodoun
(spelled Vodon, Vodou, Voudou, Voodoo, etc.) Dance is a trance-inducing music style in which Haitian artists combine DiaspoRara rjythms FolKompa which infuse Kreyòl-Funk music with elementsds of Rara street music and (Misik Rasin) Haitian roots music with more pop-based melodies

Haitian-Trance is often played in Afro-Creole Music Festivals, nightclubs from mainly the Afro-Creole and Afro-Latino American and Crenglish speaking countries of the Caribbean, the Antilles such as Haiti, Dominican Republicain (DR) Puerro Rico, Venezuela, Cuba, Martinique, Dominica, Panama, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Trinidad
Brasil, Hondunras and Columbia as well as Canada, France, Western Africa and Haitian communities in the Untited States.most notably, New Orleans.

Typical instruments
Modern synthesizer, Drum machine, Sound effect, MIDI, EWI (Electronic Wind Instruments), Backing track , Bass guitar, Electric guitars, Drums, Congas, Saxophone, Bamboo, Vaksen, Flute, Trumpet, Whistle, Tombone, Clarinet, Keyboard/Keyrtar Chanted vocals and Drumming, with lots of singable mélodies and cryptic, bawdy and pithy lyrics loaded with voye pwen,” or “sending a point.”

The track are usually sung and dance to a very hot, fast, Petwo rhythm lyrics, though there are exceptions

White Kompa

The term White Kompa is used to describe Haitian Kompa music sung by non-Haitian or French-Caribbean singers or artists.

usually Feature a lead vocalist and 2-3 backing Vocalists and sometime a guest-vocalist who 'd contribute a guest verse.

Characterized by and performed on typical musical instruments which are played only by Kompa musicians of Haitian origin.

Identifying factors include generally short to medium-length songs written in a variants.format

The recorded songs are often between three and five minutes in length.

Unlike Kompa Diect which which is very lyric-oriented-The lyrics in White Kompa songs don’t usually have any deep meaning,often the lyrics are frivolous and encourage dancing dancing due to it use of dance-oriented rhythms which generally dance to a mid-tempo with a 1-2 beat.

The origins of the genre and term was pioneered by Negre Marron Records' CEO and label Director René Guemps who always thought - if language was the barrier that stop Haitian Artist from crossing over or become mainstream to other mwrket - why not bring artist of non-Haitian Origin and have them crossover to Kompa music.

FYI: This is the first time in the history of the Haitian Music Industry (HMI) that a record label will be selling the beauty of an international artist from another race as a concept in a market that's not his or hers.
Myrtha was the one who suggested that we call the sub genre WHITE KOMPA instead of KomPOP, because most of the artists who sing that style of music are either from the United States, Canada or Europe

Kompacetic

The name is a portmanteau of Kompa and Copacetic, often referred to as "Konpastik" in Haitian Creole or "Compastique" (French).

The word Hairian music Producers, Recording and Sound Engineees and use to let session artist know that "everything is in excellent order" during recording sessions or sound check.

The term "Kompacetic" was originally coined by Negre Marron Records' CEO and Label director RENÉ Guemps who often used the word to let his Artist know that things are on the up and up.

Rara-Bòday

The name is a portmanteau of the Afro-Haitian Rara and Rabòday, sub-genre of Rabòday Music which get its stylistic origin from Rasin music (Haitian Root Music).

Key stylistic element:
Vocals include a blend of SingRapping, chanted Vocals with lots of Collisions, Calls and Reponses which are sung in Haitian Creole, usually Feature a Folk-Lead artist, guest artist or Backing Vocalist or a Rapper who 'd contribute a guest verse.

Other Key elements:
Singable folk-based melodies that's loaded with raunchy, sexually explicit rhymes and cryptic, bawdy and pithy lyrics and full of "Voye pwen,” (Haitian Creole) or “sending a point.” (English) which means to indirectly accuse/speak of someone, to imply, to give a hint, to indirectly place the blame on an individual

The concept usually includes using Electromechanic musical instruments and Electronic Music Technology or Electronic Musical Instruments , which is distributed via digital audio formats over the Internet.

KomSoul Music

KomSoul referree simply as KomSoul Music, is the Haitian style of Soul music.
It combines elements of Kompa Evangelique (Haitian Gospe)l music, Voodoo jazz, Compas and Blues (C&B) also known as Creole Rhythm and Blues.

Typical instruments include:
Electric guitar bass guitar, piano, Hammond organ, drums, horn section, key board, clavinet, vocals, and Backing tracks

The only difference between the two genres are:
Soul music is sung mostly in English around the African-American communities in America while KomSoul music is sung by Haitian C&B and KomPassion Singers in their native French-Haitian Creole languages.
