Arvernien

Region in western Beleriand, south of the Falas and east of the island of Balar. Features include the forest of Nan-Tathren. Inhabited by Teleri and/or Nandor/Laiquendi, the region is not especially important in the history of Beleriand.

It is, however, mentioned in the Silmarillion and featured on the map.

Gourgaz

A large green reptilian monster, often used as a commander of Giak units in the armies of the Darklords in the world of Magnamund (Joe Dever's Lone Wolf). Native to the Maakenmire swamp, and with a frighteningly high Combat Skill (i.e. nearly impossible to beat without cheating).

You see a gourgaz coming towards you. Do you want to:

1. run away (recommended)
2. fight it (you're on something, aren't you?)
3. use your Kai Discipline of Running Away
4. run away even faster
5. faint

pudu

means the same as shit, except you can put it in a film and still get a "U" certificate (i.e. Star Wars Phantom Menace). In the ROTJ Jabba scene, it's translated as "fodder", but this doesn't explain why Sebulba sez it when he crashes his racing pod.

police state

A country where the police watch what you do and try to control your life. Where there's cameras in town centres and on public transport. Where you can be arrested because of something you said to a friend about the leaders of your country. Where police stop and search people for no reason. Where you can be detained without charge or trial. Where the state plants bugs with impunity. Where protesters have to get police permits, and where police regularly attack protesters.

Hang on. That sounds like America and Britain today!

Smash all police states! Down with Patriot Act, ASBOs, CCTV, ID cards, biometrics, no fly lists, Terrorism Act, Gitmo, Belmarsh, Public Order Act, and Nazi bastard politicians and pigs!

jakhsa

In World of Lone Wolf 3: Beyond the Nightmare Gate, a jakhsa is an evil spirit which can adopt the physical appearance of its victim. It tries to kill its target, but with a twist: killing the jakhsa kills its victim, and vice-versa.

The jakhsa follows Grey Star under the command of Shasarak.
