stranger lawyer
(n.) Someone who automatically mounts a vigorous defense of a complete stranger when their friends or family express a grievance about that person. The stranger lawyer will invent elaborate hypothetical scenarios to excuse the stranger's behavior, citing possible rare diseases, traumatic backstories, or extenuating circumstances that have zero basis in fact.

Girlfriend: "You don't know that! He could have a autoimmune disorder. Or chronic fatigue. Or he could be dealing with a family emergency. Or maybe he's—"
Anon: "Babe you've never even met him, stop stranger lawyering."
