Any social worker, do-gooder, social service agency, or faith-based organization who comes into a hood not their own and plays at being the savior to folks that don't need savin. Expects said folks, most often minorities, to be grateful and happy and do all that is recommended. Poverty pimps do this in place of supporting real community organizing of the people who live in these communities to solve their own issues. Poverty pimps often directly benefit financially from pretending at saving people and communities, usually based on their job. Most often interested in keeping people from dying, but not succeeding.

The man on the street corner walked up to the white, older social worker who came from a rich neighborhood and was slumming in the hood and called her a poverty pimp.

Poverty Pimp: A pejorative term used in the U.S. to label a person or group; typically an elected official, activist, religious leader, social services agency or faith-based organization, which has appointed itself as an intermediary for the poor and the disenfranchised, but which unethically benefits either financially or politically from their position as a representative of a "victimized group." Such a person isn't truly interested in helping the people that he/she claims to represent, but is instead more interested in their own career(s).

Examples: Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Maxine Waters, Obamacare.

Welfare agencies are often poverty pimps because if more minorities emancipated themselves from the welfare state, those who facilitate the welfare would be out of a job.

Activists for the disabled are also poverty pimps by:
saying, "We will not support that," to some career moves (career conflicts with some "moral/ethical" quandary), have been known to be incapable of landing even one of their charges in a fast food joint job over a span of more than two decades, often let their disabled charges sit on their asses for eight hours a day in a workshop waiting for craft work to do for a pittance. When there is none, they do not have to search for real paid jobs (not that they would get them as we can imagine the disaster the craft work would do to their "résumés") are usually headed by limousine liberals who expect their charges to use public transportation to get around in counties where everyone knows that almost everyone who can see HAS to possess and drive his or her own vehicle just to obtain employment. To sum up the first four points, even in allegedly disabled American friendly states such as New York, the disabled are expected to know a socioeconomic place that is often below to less than three times the poverty level, even when the disability can be medicated and concealed through the medication. No attempt is made to gauge the severity of an individual's disability, every attempt is made to force the disabled individual into impoverished submission.

Disability activist poverty pimps are in some ways worse than intraracial poverty pimps in that the former are bottom feeders and the latter are preying on their own racial kind.

The person who grew up in the community and learned to make a nice income along with expenses for pulling the strings on elected officials with liberal white guilt. The poverty pimp carry's a small film crew with every where they go but modestly states hates being on camera or in the news. . The poverty pimp never spends any of their own money to give out food or help with utility bills. Often takes vacations charged as educational junkets to meet a lover in another state or country at the expense of the none profit they formed. That nonprofit is nothing but a paycheck mill for the poverty pimp and the poverty pimps family. Stirs up division and hate by playing the race card every chance the pimp gets. Always trying to drive a wedge between the races because that's how they support themselves.

The poverty pimp told the white business owner she would drive him out of the neighborhood if he didn't contribute to her none profit and yes... it actually happened.
