Get the Nihilo mug.(Latin: "creation from nothing")
The Judeo-Christian doctrine which acknowledges ABSOLUTE creation. This dogma, which distinguishes Judaism and Christianity (and perhaps Islam) from all other religious cosmologies about the "beginnings", holds that a transcendent, eternal, uncreated, self-existent God created everything that is the natural universe(and every angelic spirit) out of nothing. It differs from the Hindu idea that God created the universe out of Him/Her/Itself and from the ancient quasi-pantheistic Greek idea that creation "emanated" from God/the gods. The concept of absolute creation is extremely difficult to grasp(perhaps impossible), since it assumes that God "invented" or "thought up" matter, time, and energy and set them in motion by His own will(that is, He had NOTHING with which to create, but really created entirely NEW things which were not already pre-existent). The Church has held to this dogma(NOT a particular VERSION of this dogma, i.e. young earth creationism, old earth creationism, theistic evolution) which has never been directly challenged (and seems to even be supported) by modern science, since most physicists agree that the universe had a beginning.

Whether a Christian accepts a 15-billion-year-old universe or a 6,000-year-old universe as found in a historical/scientific interpretation of the first chapters of Genesis, ALL believers are agreed on the doctrine of creatio ex nihilo.

Get the ex nihilo mug.The primary ideology of planet earth. The idea is "we are fucked, everything is fucked, nothing can be stopped, there are no plausible ways to be a moral person anymore, therefore, let us party indefinitely."
It's an ideology that is present in the ruling classes as well as the working classes around the world. It has destructive implications in that it is a performative self-fulfilling prophecy.

"I used to be a libertarian. Now I don't really keep up with politics anymore. I believe in Partyboat Nihilism. Shots! shots! shots!"

Get the Partyboat Nihilism mug.A bad-faith debating tactic where the debater selectively rejects commonly understood concepts, systems of classification, or terminology used by their opponent, halting any substantive debate, but supports their own viewpoints using those same concepts.
Instead of evaluating the logic of an opposing argument, the tactical nihilist will feign confusion, and attack a term used by their opponent. If the opponent, unaware of the tactic, takes the debater's apparent confusion in good faith, the conversation is quickly derailed into long discussions where the debater will continually request more and more evidence simply to establish the term's definition or validity, which the debater really understood in the first place. The debater will split every hair, attempt to deconstruct other words and concepts, and request more evidence. The original argument is forgotten and appears to be unaddressed by the opponent, and the debater is then able to feel victorious.

Alice: White people, becoming a dwindling and hated minority in the United States, face challenges as a group and should be allowed to advocate for their interests as a race.
Bob: Race? What even is that, really? And what is white? What about Italians and the Irish? I don't even know what you're talking about.
Alice: Wait, you support black, Hispanic and Asian minority activism. You know what race is, and I've never heard you try to deny or deconstruct any of those other racial identities before. And you sure seem to know what white people are when you're attacking them for white privilege, or when you think there are too many of them. Please stop with the tactical nihilism.

Get the Nihilism mug.You know what's great about life? It doesn't matter. I don't mean that it doesn't matter what's great about life, I mean that what's great about life is that it doesn't matter. Politics doesn't matter, aliens don't matter, black holes don't matter, we don't matter.. nothing matters. We have nothing to prove, nothing to strive for. Life is nothing, it's probably an illusion anyway. We might as well all be dead. Why care about anything? See that painting - who cares? It probably doesn't exist.. but it sure is beautiful.. See that roller coaster? Oh, who cares, there's no point anyway.. but it sure is fun.. See that human you're in love with? Who cares, they're not even real and love is an illusion! Well yeah.. but it still feels really nice and it's a lot of fun.. so why not just kick back, relax and enjoy yourself on the pointless and non-existent but undeniably awesome ride of life!
