A man knot is born when the man doesn't have quite long enough of hair to obtain the manbun, but still tie it up in the same fashion anyway.

Reginald's hair is too short for the manbun he's going for, it looks like more of a man knot.

Fat man knot 

Due to the fact that a fat man has a large gelatinous pot belly it renders him unable to bend over and tie his shoe in a conventional manner. The large beast of a man must tie his shoe sitting down with one leg up and crossed over the other leg's knee while tying, so as a result it positions the knot to the inner side of the shoe instead of down the middle like a normal person's knot would be.

Billy, after hours of porch dwelling in his favorite chair, decided to give his fat man knot a tightening before he wobbled over to Todd's house.
