earthenware

Pottery fired at lower temperatures, making it softer and more porous than other ceramics (like stoneware and porcelain). While more prone to absorbing liquids and notably less durable than other ceramics, it can be a cost-efficient alternative when manufacturing kitchenware.
After everyday use, my earthenware has become chipped and scratch. In retrospect, I should have purchased the slightly-pricier porcelain dining set instead.
