dusky dolphin 

Belonging in the lagenorhynchus family, Dusky dolphins are the most acrobatic of all dolphin species leaping for hunting, mating and play reasons. They have striking markings on their body and were names Dusky dolphin after their dusky colouration.
They are found in the southern hemisphere around New Zealand, South Africa, South America and the Fawkland Islands. Grows from 1.5-1.8 metres long. Dusky dolphins are known for their extremely friendly personality and are very approachable, they are also avid bowriders and often socialise with seals and whales and even interbreed with other dolphin species such as the Common dolphin.
Can go swimming with Dusky dolphins in Kaikoura, New Zealand.
