The belief that there are two kinds of
people in the world. Smart
people and dumb
people.
In the world of dumbism society is divided into spaces for both kinds of
people.
Examples:
Some jobs are for smart
people. Some are for dumb
people.
Some colleges are for smart
people, some colleges are for dumb people.
This career/field is for smart people, this career and field is for dumb people.
Dumb people think this. Smart people think that.
A dumbist aside from ascribing to this worldview may also discriminate against those who they perceive as dummies, may hold IQ tests in high regard, and assign special status to "using of the head" i.e. "this job lets you use your head, you should be grateful you are not in a dumb job."
This is contrary to the idea of all humans having measurable experiences, and being knowledgeable in those areas. Humans that acknowledge that people are knowledgable in their areas of interests and ignorant outside them tend to be able to learn from others by using them as a library to make up for their own deficiencies.
"Before god we are equally wise - and equally foolish."
- Albert Einstein
