drippy cheese effect
When a company assumes that extremely viscous, extremely drippy cheese is the most appetizing. This is most commonly displayed in mac&cheese ads. While drippy cheese can be mouth-wateringly appetizing for some, others find it disgusting. A similar thing can be seen in pizza advertisements, where the stringiness and stretchiness of the cheese is maximized (using literal glue in the cheese). It’s even more common for people to find stretchy cheese on pizza than it is for them to like drippy mac&cheese sauce, but the minority that finds the stretchy pizza cheese disgusting is even more disgusted by it. I myself cannot eat drippy cheese, and, being the weirdo that I am, I can’t even eat hot cheese.

maddy: oh no another innocent victim of the drippy cheese effect, in my own house! at least it’s not base 44??
borax: i need ginger ale and a bucket…please…
maddy: i would not normally follow such a sudden request but given the situation i feel compelled to do so
