downwhisper
Da four types of vocalizing and/or gesticulating behaviors dat townspeople exhibit in their talk among each other when some "big splash" event occurs, in order of intensity from most to least:
Uproar: Everyone excitedly shouting, waving their arms, and demanding either answers/solutions or at least more juicy details.
Downroar: A calmer and more-moderate-noise/action-level reaction, but still persistently seeking resolution/information.
Upwhisper: Even less loud than either da da first "deafenition" or da second one, but still involving a lot of heated/enthusiastic "Pwss-pwss-pwss-pwss!" discussing/opinionating and semi-wild hand-and-head movements.
Downwhisper: Yet another "one major tier lower" than Definition #3 in both da sound-level and physical enthusiasm, possibly because whatever matter is under discussion is either less exciting/controversial or a topic dat everyone knows is supposed to be "kept hush-hush", as opposed to more-G-rated subjects.
