The tards flapping about on MTV, admired by girls aged 11-18 and anyone else with their mobile phone up their ass. Nobody should be obsessed over celebrities and if they are they are either a) a girl or b) a sped.
If you watch E! News, TRL (Total Retard Live) or anything to do with MTV other than programs that actually play music (and Beavis and Butthead - they rule) then you are a turd and should burn.

In a sense I agree with all of the definitions here. However, a distiction must be drawn between celebrities and actors/musicians. Actors/musicians work relatively hard to become succesful in there chosen profession, and despite all the contests that provides lazy TV execs with reality TV, very few actors/musicians make it big. A celebrity on the other hand is somewhat opposite, i.e. they are famous without trying very hard to earn fame.
Actor - Johnny Depp
Musician - Dave Ghrol (Please forgive me if i've misspelled his name)
Celebrity - Paris Hilton

Get the Celebrity mug.
The fabrication of celebrity; the manufacturing of a celebrity for capital gain.
The celebrication of Paris Hilton can be attributed to the release of a sex tape in 2003, which brought the celebutante to a new level of fame, leading to magazine covers, a book deal, and a reality TV series.

The surfacing of celebrity sex tapes has become so common that some in the popular media have suggested that celebrity agents and PR representatives sometimes purposely allow the releases to celebricate their client's career.
