bumscoop

A term used in the Marine Corps to mean gossip, unsubstantiated rumors, news, and other pertinent information about training, deployments, officers, non-commissioned officers, and administrative issues. See also: scuttlebutt

According to the Lance Corporal Underground, the bumscoop is that we are going to the desert next year.

Bum scoop

A phrase used to describe some misleading information given to a person. The misleading information, or "the scoop," may, or may have not been intentionately misleading.

Johnny: "Hey Vinny, where you at?!" Vinny: "I'm uptown, uptown!" Johnny: "Tommy said you'd be downtown?!" Vinny: "I guess he gave you the bum scoop, huh?" Johnny: "Ahhhh, fugetaboutit!"
