blakebenning

The act of trying to make your sports teams sound superior to a group of friends whose sports teams have many more Super Bowls, Stanley Cups, World Series and/or NBA Championships than your own team. Blakebenning is developed over the course of a lifetime of rooting for sad, underachieving sports teams.

(1) When the 2020 Buffalo Bills finally won the AFC East, James immediately started blakebenning to his friends who are all Steelers or Patriots fans.

(2) Every time his roommate says “Go Caps!”, Andrew tells him to stop blakebenning and that the Penguins have won 5 Stanley Cups.

when you're holding up your phone and making faces at it, as though you are taking a selfie, but you're really taking a picture of the person across from you or the wall or anything else that seems interesting but you don't want to be caught dead taking a picture of.

This action is often made more convincing by wiggling the eyebrows or opening the mouth, to pretend you're trying to get a Snapchat filter to work.
