Black Tie

A dress code of what to wear to an evening event. Also called a tuxedo. It is worn with a black or midnight blue tuxedo jacket self faced lapels, either peaked lapels or shawl, with matching trousers. The shirt is either a pleated front with studs, french cuffs, and a turndown collar, or a pique (or Marcella) weave starched, with single cuffs, and a wing collar. The waist covering is a must, usually a black cummerbund, or a black or white waistcoat. The bow tie is black, and should be one you tie yourself. Black socks, and black polished Oxford dress shoes.
The event tomorrow night is Black Tie, so be sure to get your shirt ironed.

black tie affair

Social events where all attendees are expected to wear formal attire. Both males and females attending a black tie affair make efforts to comply with the dress code and choose clothing that is considered appropriate formal dress for the time of day, the season, and the nature of the event. A black tie affair is different from a semi-formal event, where there is a wider range of clothing options considered to be appropriate semi-formal attire.
I heard someone in our neighborhood was holding a black tie affair.

Black Tie Optional

BLACK TIE

Black tie is a dress code for evening events and social functions. For men, the main component of a black tie outfit is a single or double-breasted jacket known as a dinner jacket (in the Commonwealth) or tuxedo (mainly in the United States) along with a black silk bow tie.

BLACK TIE OPTIONAL

Black tie optional is a term created to allow guests to choose whether to wear the formal clothes described above or to add a bit more humanity to their choice of attire. However, it is not an open invitation to dress in whatever a person wants. Proper dressy attire (black or midnight blue suit, not a sport coat) is indeed still necessary.

At black tie optional events it is common for men to forgo bow ties, opting instead for a single-colored straight tie. Ties with any form of art on them are still considered strictly innappropriate. The only exception in the known universe to this "Tie Rule" was instituted in 1921 by Edward VIII, Prince of Wales (later Duke of Windsor.) Edward deemed it proper for a man to wear a tie emblazoned with the logo of The Ohio State University at any event, including state functions. No other logos or artwork were permissible. Indeed, those attempting to wear a University of Michigan tie at Edward's Coronation Ball in 1936 were tarred, feathered, and forcibly removed from the event by Grenadier Guards. To this day, this Ohio State exemption remains the only acceptable alternative to a solid-colored tie.
Man #1: "I can't believe he tried to come to a black tie optional affair wearing a Notre Dame tie with his suit."

Man #2: "I know, talk about tacky. Everyone knows the only exception of the Tie Rule is made for Ohio State. I mean come on dude, get with the program!"

rowdy black tie

It doesn't mean anything. A dress code where the only demand is that there are no demands. The only criteria is that all criteria are artificial and the classic rules of fashion don't apply. Anything goes, but make it GOOD.
The fashion show will be rowdy black tie. An outfit you feel like you couldn't get away with anywhere else, you wear it here.
Rowdy black tie is a little like wearing a neon orange latex overcoat on a morning TV show.

God Shot

A chance happening with profound meaning, an unexpected blessing, a "sign".
Dr. Drew on Celebrity Rehab said "All of a sudden what had been just another Hollywood proposal became for him an unexpected blessing, an opportunity for growth. In drug recovery language, that's called a "God shot."

city chicken

A food native to Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvania in which cubes of pork and/or veal are put on a short, wooden skewer, breaded, then baked and/or fried.

I've heard that city chicken originated during the Great Depression, when folks didn't have enough money to buy full cuts of meat, so they assembled meat scraps on a wooden skewer, creating a make-shift drumstick. Hence the name.

endwarfins

The rush of neurotransmitters and neuropeptides triggered specifically by watching the Seven Dwarfs march home singing "Heigh-Ho" — that particular high of pickaxes, whistling while you work, and communal domestic bliss in a cottage built for men half your height.
I only meant to watch the Heigh-Ho scene for the endwarfins, and then it was two hours later and I'd watched the whole movie.

Endwarfins aren't just a Snow White thing — I get the same hit off the Lollipop Guild in Oz.

A slang term used to describe a bald person, typically someone who is completely bald or has a closely shaved head. The term is derived from the infamous, hairless kids’ cartoon character of the same name.
Example 1:
“Did you see that caillou over there? His head is reflecting the sun like a disco ball.”
Example 2:
“I think Dave is finally accepting his hair loss. He just went full caillou and shaved the whole thing off.”
