In sociology, the tipping point is the moment when something unique in
society becomes commonplace. Also known as the angle of repose.
The phrase was coined by political scientist Morton Grodzins. A book was written (and published in 2000) on such dramatic moments by Malcolm Gladwell.
Also, the title of (the Philladelphia hip-hop group) the Roots'
2004 album. The album recieved two Grammy nominations and debuted at #4 on
Billboard album chart.
