The Lara Effect

A phrase that encapsulates the expectancy of an individual "one-upping" you after a statement. This involves the systematic and conscious practice of making one's associates feel inferior and thereby gaining the status of being "one-up" on them.
Person A: Have you ever double booked?
Person B (aka "The Lara Effect"): Yeah I have triple booked... lunch, happy hour, and dinner.
