Swords and Sandals

An RPG developed by Whiskeybarrel studios and eGames.com.

You play as a pirate that had their ship wrecked by a mighty storm and end up on an island called Doomtrek.

Doomtrek has a brutal arena in which you must defeat other combatants to the death for gold and fame. You use gold to purchase weapons, armor and other necessities that increase your survivability and better the chances of defeating the champions in the arena.

The game lets you taunt, beat, shoot, mutilate and, among other things, completely disembody opponents of their limbs and ultimately, their lives. It's quite gory and relentless. If you die, you die. You have to start over.

There are other installments of the series which include:
Swords and Sandals II: Emperor's Reign
Swords and Sandals Crusader
Swords and Sandals III: Solo Ultratus
Swords and Sandals IV: Tavern Quests
Swords and Sandals V: Grail of Antares
Swords and Sandals V: Redux

Most of the installments of the series are home to many game-breaking glitches. For instance, in the second installment, even on the full version, some players aren't able to save their characters. In Swords and Sandals 4, the game breaks over the simplest of player interaction. The first one, though, is legendary and if you're into rogue-like action RPGs it's definitely worth checking out.
Guy1: "Swords and Sandals is the worst game that I've ever enjoyed."
Guy2: "Real shit. First time I played it I thought it was one of the ugliest games I've ever played but for some reason, I couldn't stop until I slaughtered the last champion."

sword and sandal

Genre of Movie containing a mixture of the following:

The trailer or introduction is always read out by the same guy, you know the one, him with the deep croaky voice; "IN THE LAND BEFORE THE TIME OF ...."

The hero, who even though he has has muscles in his shite wears a short little skirt thing no matter what the weather and a pair of sandals.

His village, parents or pet gerbil get wiped out by the bad guy.

He meets a mentor who is an old man of vaguelly Asian appearance who will train him in martial art and motivate him.

He is given a mythical weapon, usually a bloody great broadsword or axe that would give lesser men a double hernia just to lift up, it sometimes has a name.

He will meet up with and make friends with some very strange characters during the movie.

He will meet up with and make enemies of some very strange characters during the movie.

At one stage he will be captured and tortured, making him grunt, sweat and writhe a lot before his improbable escape, probally a plus for the ladies.

He will need to find some kind of talisman or jewel to defeat his enemy.

His enemy will be pug ugly, really evil and have some weakness that the talisman or jewel will exploit, he may have a dodgy sidekick to break up the dramatic flow with a sprinkling of humor.

The enemy may leave something behind before he gets his just deserts, for the sequel.
Bill: Arnold Schwarzenegger is on television tonight in a sword and sandal movie.

Bob: I would rather watch Rambo, the plot is so different.

A trip to a grocery store, convenience store, or gas station for the sole purpose of buying an excessive amount of junk food and sugary drinks, usually with friends. A chud run often happens late at night and ends with everyone involved hating themselves afterwards.

flophouse

Any house/apartment/frat house/trailer/etc. which is used for individuals to crash (sleep, chill, hang out, lurk, etc.) for a period of time. In order to "crash", one must not actually live there (e.g. have their name on the lease, own said flophouse, etc.). Flophouses are typically used by college students, drug addicts, transients, vagrants, or other unsavory characters.

A flophouse may also be the home owned by the parents of a college student, who after being away at college, wishes to live as if he/she is still at college (e.g. staying out all night, returning just to crash at mom and dad's house, then leaving again), rather than conforming to the pre-college rules.
Example #1
Dude: (Talking to someone passed out face first on the floor of his college apartment) Hey man, who the hell are you? What do you think this is, a flophouse??

Bro: Sorry dude, I must have passed out for a minute.

Example #2
Mom: Where have you BEEN for the last three days? You come home just to sleep?? What do you think this is, a flophouse??!!

Son: What's your problem? I'm an adult now!

Hate Sink

A person you hate intensely not because they deserve such hatred but because they serve as a focus for your general hatred. A healthy way to dispense with excess animosity.
Jake's not really that big an asshole. He just serves as my hate sink.
